Perfect for the Fall. The big sister of our popular Everywhere Sleeveless Dress adds a little long-sleeve elegance for a more formal occasion, or just a chilly day (or a chilly office for that matter. Why do they always keep it so cold?)
The slight but intentional cap sleeve on the Everywhere Dress drapes beautifully over the shoulder to round out this sophisticated but "not stuffy" look. It's especially complementary with the neckline.
THE NECKLINE. I am obsessed with a great neckline because it frames your face. I wanted a defined, comfy and not fussy or overly feminine neckline for the Everyday Dress, and 100% not a turtleneck or cowlneck.
THE FABRIC. It took ages to find the right fabric for Everyday Sabbatical. There are very few fabric vendors who will work with small, sample quantities. Then, I learned there are considerations to make if your design needs stretch, and if so, 2-way or 4-way? How much bounce back? All these questions were new to me. (I didn't even know there were multiple types of stretch!) And of course, cost and available colors further narrowed the list of vendors I could work with.
The SKIRT! We're constantly on the move and our clothes need to be functional enough to make sure we can keep going like the Energizer bunnies we are.
POCKETS. I think everything should have at least one pocket. Seriously. Lip balm, eyeglasses, phone – we always have something to carry. Why do our only options seem to be carrying a purse (fine, but not always ideal), or having our hands full? This nonsense has to stop.
Speaking of freedom, here's what I wrote in the Everywhere Dress product brief years ago.
