I’m having flashbacks to the photoshoot when the photo above was taken. It was both a tough and euphoric day.
I remember the photographer and others on set getting frustrated with me for wanting to add in props and change sets. They were all used to fashion shoots where women just wore clothes and a pout and just looked “sexy”.
That was not and never would be Everyday Sabbatical. I had a vision of adding in enough props to give context about what the women were doing in their day, where they were going, their lifestyles … you know, the GSD-ness of life.
When I look at the photo above, I’m so glad I stuck to my vision. The yoga mat gives clarity to the activity and purpose and shows off the fabric stretch. The flowers in the basket tote lighten up the photo and give a sense of life.
I’m super happy with how it turned out. But, now with time passed, I’m annoyed that I had to fight for that vision.
