Designer's Notebook

Here's what I wrote in the Everywhere Dress product brief years ago. I'm proud to have stayed true to it:

- Clean lines, easy to wear, pockets, machine washable.

- No buttons, no zippers, no drawstrings, nothing to poke me.

Drawstrings are my personal pet peeve. A drawstring lets the wearer define her waist, but it's constricting. (I mean, think about how often you've had to re-tie a drawstring to breathe or move comfortably.) It's also a lazy visual trick because it gives an easy focal point like a belt buckle. 

We can do better than that, so the Everyday Dress uses a diagonal line, upper hip to lower hip, to give a different, subtle waist definition. The top is two-layered construction. The inner layer is shorter than the outer layer, which creates a subtle blousing effect - important for enjoying a good meal and then curling up on the couch.

Never Knew ...

Love!

I love the dress, though the XS is a big large on me (I am 5'4", 115), so I clip it in the back to make it a bit shorter and tighter. It is my go-to dress for in-person interviews and important meeting since I feel both confident and comfortable in it.

Tailored for my needs

So versatile!

This dress has become a staple in my wardrobe. I mix it up and wear it with heels, flip flops, and sneakers. In the fall, I plan on wearing it with a denim jacket and booties. It’s my new LBD for all occasions. So comfortable and even has a pocket! Goes from casual to formal and back to casual all in a day!

The Perfect Dress...that doesn't feel like a dress

I love this dress! It gives me that "dressed up energy" that I feels more powerful than wearing casual gear, yet so comfortable as if I'm wearing a long t-shirt. I love the attention to design detail, like the sleek zip pocket and the angled "fake waistline" -- very flattering but I can't feel it on the inside. When I need to wear a dress I get excited to put this on, instead of the dreaded, "What am I going to wear?" This dress is designed to bring together the best of fashion and comfort, I'd highly recommend!
