As many of you know, I was born in Korea and my family immigrated to the US when I was a chubby-cheeked toddler. People would ask, “Why did your family move?” and I always responded, “My parents wanted us to have the American Dream.” The “Dream” where opportunity exists, and anything is possible with hard work. I realize, now, that it is and, definitely, is not that simple.
As a kid, I didn’t dream of Everyday Sabbatical or bring an entrepreneur or business owner because, I truly believed that there were only five professions in the entire world: doctor, lawyer, teacher, banker and farmer. That’s the beautiful thing about the “Dream," it evolves as you and your understanding of the world does.
As the New Year begins and the much needed examination of our society continues, what is your “American Dream”?
