There is no family money in Everyday Sabbatical, and no investment partner (or the challenges that come with those types of business relationships). I'm self-funding the business from my savings. That means there's also no safety net, so each decision is real, deliberate, and purposeful. And so. Damn. Freeing.
Coming from the corporate world, I know that the people that hold the purse strings are the ones that call the shots. After so many years following the decisions of those people, I'm so grateful to be in the shot-calling position for a change. I love thinking about the products in the Everyday Sabbatical line, and about my choice to rebel against conventional practices - like creating real fashion for real women - and sometimes talking about funding.
